The thought-adjustment skills will prove invaluable in overcoming social anxiety, and allow you quickly reprogram your subconscious mind and redefine your life. By focusing maximum mental energy on truly believing the phrases and generating congruent emotional energies, you'll drastically accelerate results. Eventually you'll internalize new beliefs and have a new foundation from which you interact socially. But keep in mind that negative thinking and expectation is a habitual behavior that you've been "developing" for a long time. As with any habit, it may take some time to reverse. That's OK - whenever you find yourself falling into your old ways, just re-focus and continue putting energy into producing new thoughts. The new beliefs will eventually become second nature.

One more good way to accelerate adoption of new anti-social-anxiety thought patterns is by "ACTING" - sometimes called "faking it until you make it". By acting, I mean behaving in the manner that matches you desired belief, even if such behavior feels unnatural at first. This technique is especially useful in social situations. By "acting" the behavior of the person you want to be, a powerful impression is made on your subconscious mind which actually help to change the way you think about yourself. For example, even if you're not feeling all that confident, try to just ACT like you are feelings confident -- stand up straight, speak in a calm and confident voice, make direct eye contact, etc. You might just be amazed by the results. In simply acting confident - even if you don't feel confident at first - you generate an energy that can actually re-define your self-image. Not feeling very social? - try simply ACTING social. Not feeling energetic? - ACT like you have energy. You will find yourself become it. "Acting" should not be perceived as being "phony" or "insincere". What I'm talking about here is "Acting" the role of the person that you really choose to be. It's an amazingly effective method of redefining yourself and dissolving social anxiety. And the new behaviors can quickly become second nature.
